Advanced Biology
We are about to embark on a fascinating journey into the workings of
the human body and the important; and often under-appreciated; world of plants. We will begin the
year by exploring the anatomy and physiology of the human body as well as its evolution and the link
to health and disease. During the second half of the year we will delve into the science of plantstheir
physiology; structure and systematics; the development of agriculture and ethnobotany.
Through our explorations; you will add to your body of scientific knowledge with factual
information about our topics and you will further hone your scientific skills through analysis and
critical thinking exercises. You will be challenged to question; explore; and interpret concepts as
they arise and in so doing; develop a deeper appreciation for our world.
