Course description

This course will address how events in United States history have influenced the role and structure of government; and demonstrate an understanding of how the past influences the present and future. Topics include: philosophical and historical foundations of the American political system; how the framers created the Constitution; how the Constitution has been changed; how the Constitution shaped American institutions and practices; the Bill of Rights; and challenges in the 21st century. Students will participate in a simulated congressional hearing as a culminating activity.
