Course description

Honors Science and Technical Writing is a 4th-year English option for students who may have completed AP English Language and/or Dual Credit ENG 101/102; but for whose needs and interests are not fulfilled by AP English Literature. Designed for students entering STEM fields; this is a rigorous writing class that teaches students how to communicate effectively using different forms of scientific; technical; and research writing. The rigor of this class is reflected in its dual credit English ENG 111 alignment.† Students are required to produce portfolios and participate in virtual class presentations.††

Students will learn to think critically and imaginatively while reading; analyzing and discussing complex STEM ideas; products; and processes.† Multimodal approaches for writing and presenting scientific and technical information will be taught in addition to the application of basic rhetorical strategies.††
