Course description

Sports medicine is an area of health that applies medical and scientific knowledge to prevent; recognize; manage; and rehabilitate injuries related to sports; recreational activity; or exercise. This course provides an opportunity to study sports medicine including but not limited to: sports medicine related careers; organizational and administrative considerations; prevention of athletic injuries; recognition; evaluation; immediate care of athletic injures; rehabilitation skills; taping and wrapping techniques; first aid/CPR; emergency procedures; nutrition; sports psychology; human anatomy and physiology; therapeutic modalities; and therapeutic exercise. Multiple laboratory activities are included.
