Course description

This is the second credit for the Law and Public Safety program in SUSD. This is the description in the SUSD planning guide to entice students to complete the Law and Public Safety Pathway and apply for the Internship: This course introduces and explores ethical issues and the justice system. It focuses on ethics and the law, the police, courts, and corrections. Expands on common defenses utilized which includes specific offenses and the essential elements of each offense. Students will practice interviewing witnesses and suspects and how to present evidence in a court. The process for the collection of forensic evidence will be explored. Critical thinking and problem solving will be essential to this course.
