This Advanced Placement course is designed to be the equivalent of one semester introductory college course in U.S. government. Students will use inquiry to study the key concepts and institutions of the political system and culture of the United States. Students will read; analyze; and discuss the U.S. Constitution; other foundational documents; and Supreme Court cases as well as complete a research or applied civics project. The course utilizes the concepts of leadership; decision-making; institutions; citizenship and ideologies to describe and analyze the function and operation of federal and state government. Students who complete this course are encouraged to take the Advanced Placement Exam.†
