Course description
This course is designed to provide students a working knowledge of the Universe and the tools and modeling we
use to understand cosmic phenomena. Topics include observational astronomy, the behavior of light, telescopes, the
Sun-Earth-Moon system, the solar system, stars, constellations, galaxies, cosmology, and extraterrestrial life. Students
will participate in discussions, hands-on activities, and frequent trips to the Shiras
Planetarium.
