Biology and a physical scienceCourse description
This course is designed for students who do not intend to pursue a science related degree in college. Biology II is designed to help students to understand
the practical application of biology. Students will be engaged in hands-on activities; projects; and labs; as well as participate in class discussions and
presentations. Students will investigate systems and history of classification including cladistics and phylogeny emphasizing a link between evolution and
classification. Topics will also include geologic time; plant and fungus anatomy and physiology. Infectious diseases (bacteria and viruses) will be studied
and this study will include an in-depth investigation of antibiotic resistance and vaccines. Students will also use dissection as a means to understand the
anatomy and physiology of the animal kingdom; with strong emphasis on human anatomy and physiology.
