This College in High School course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of argument and rhetoric. The course will include the construction, presentation, and refutation of arguments, as well as the development of critical skills necessary for worthwhile evaluation and criticism of argument. Students will strive to become more articulate in speech and cognizant of the intricacies of argument and debate. This course, which works in conjunction with the University of Pittsburgh, emphasizes college-level reading, writing, and study skills. Students will engage in college-level assessments. Students will demonstrate research and speech skills through both written and oral assessments. By the conclusion of the course, students will expand their knowledge of research skills, as well as demonstrate a proficiency in debate.
