Semester 1 will provide an overview of the types of functions that will be studied throughout the
course, and begin connecting real world data to various types of functions. Building on statistical
regression foundations from Algebra 1 and transformations from Geometry, students will analyze
how regression equations of various real world data connect to their respective parent functions to
analyze patterns and compare community data. Students will learn how inverse functions relate to
the parent function, specifically the relationship between exponential functions and logarithmic
functions. Students will then begin diving into the details of logarithmic functions as they relate to
real world data. Semester 2 will dive into the details of the various functions introduced in semester 1. Students will
learn algebraic techniques from cultures around the world. Each new function analysis will then be
applied to real world data regression equations to analyze and make predictions about topics
relevant to students' lives.
