Field Biology is a practical, hands-on study of plants and animals native to Pennsylvania. Students will learn basic biology and how to identify: plants, fish, mammals, birds, insects, reptiles and amphibians. This course makes extensive use of our 127 acre campus and stream. Students will participate in the SMART Angler program and learn how to fish using appropriate and safe techniques. A field trip to a local lake will give students a chance to hone their skills and catch and identify local species. The outdoors will also be used to study bird and amphibian calls, tracking of mammals, and evidence of habitat for all species. Other topics include current wildlife management issues and careers in related fields.School Country
