Course description

COURSE DESCRIPTION This application-based course is a college-preparatory course that uses mathematical concepts in finance and statistical reasoning. The students will focus on topics such as investments, consumer credit, budgets, taxes, independent living, and car/home ownership. Students will also learn to display and describe data in various forms and apply probability models to two-variable data to make predictions about outcomes of real-world events. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills will be stressed in this class. The goal of this course is to combine Financial Algebra and Statistical Reasoning into one robust course to give students a well-rounded understanding of mathematical skills for life after high school. Additional topics involving college algebra are provided throughout the year for assisting in college placement.
