Honors Cell Biology is a rigorous science lab course. You will earn 1 credit towards CREST requirements upon successful completion. During HCB, students will study and discover detailed cellular structure and function at the organelle level with an emphasis on gene expression as well as processes and skills needed to be successful in research and higher-level Bioscience courses. Proteins are a main focus of this course. The structure, function, and detection of proteins in humans and plants will be studied. Proteins as they relate to human immunity, disease detection, and dysfunction will also be studied. Semester-long project called the “Organelle Project '' is our course long-term project and students will select a disease that is caused by the malfunction of a cellular organelle.
