Honors Materials Science is an engineering-focused science course, organized to follow a material’s processing. Students will gain insight into the types of materials and why a material is selected for a particular purpose, learn the origins of materials’ extraction (as well as potential reuse and/or recycling), understand how materials can be processed together to improve or alter its properties, and finally how materials are applied and used in a variety of industries.
