Honors Physics: A rigorous presentation of classical and modern physics covering topics such askinematics; dynamics; electricity; optic; quantum theory; and relativity with emphasis on integrationof algebra; geometry; and trigonometry. Individualized instruction through the use of researchprojects and computer experiences will be an integral part of this course. This rigorous full-yearcourse provides students with an engaging honors-level curriculum that emphasizes abstractreasoning and applications of physics concepts to real-world scenarios. Topics are examined ingreater detail than general physics and provide a solid foundation for collegiate-level coursework.Course components include one- and two-dimensional motion; momentum; energy andthermodynamics; harmonic motion; waves; electricity; magnetism; and nuclear and modernphysics. Throughout the course; students participate in a variety of interactive and hands-onlaboratory activities that enhance concept knowledge and develop scientific process skills;including scientific research and technical writing. Labs two (2) hours each.
