IB History HL: History of the Americas and 20th Century World Topics is made up of two courses of selected World History topics chosen to prepare the student for the Higher Level Examination in history at the end of two years of study. These courses are IB History 1 and IB History 2. Emphasis is placed on selected topics in the History of the Americas, Causes, Practices, and Effects of 20th Century Wars, The Cold Wars, and The Decline of Communism. IB History 2 builds in additional topics that include economic developments and social change in the twentieth century. Students are required to demonstrate critical writing skills, the ability to work with historical documents, and knowledge of historiography. This course is part of the IB Diploma and Course Programs.
