Course description

This course serves as an in-depth exploration of the major components of music and music performance: music theory; elements of form; aural perception; styles; time-periods; cultures; and context. Exploration of music as culture; music as lifetime enjoyment; and music as a profession will also be a focus of this course. Students should be prepared to study and perform music of diverse cultures including appropriate expression and engagement. Opportunities will exist for composition and creativity.
