This course is designed for learners with no previous (or very limited) knowledge of the Korean language. Students will develop the necessary skills to successfully communicate through the four basic communication modes of listening, reading, speaking, and writing. A large emphasis will be placed on developing communication skills, understanding culture, making connections and comparisons, and utilizing the language in various communities. This course will first introduce “Hangul”, the Korean Alphabet, as well as basic words and phrases. Students will use these foundational skills to focus on the basics of grammatical patterns and sentence structure through everyday life situations. This course will teach students about relevant Korean history and traditions, leading up to a basic understanding of contemporary Korean culture.
