Course description
Marine Biology explores the world of the ocean and all of its biotic and abiotic factors. This course guides students through exploration of the ocean in four main parts: Principals of Marine Science, Organisms in the sea, The Structure and Function of Marine Ecosystems, and Human Impact on the ocean. Students will gain thorough knowledge of the ocean itself, the organisms that live there, how the ocean is essential to thriving ecosystems of the world, and how humans play a role in all of these. Students will conduct their own research on current environmental issues, protected species, and advances in biotechnology, and ethical ocean practices.
Students will also complete wet and dry labs to model properties and processes in the ocean and observing adaptations of marine life.
