Course description

Practical Math fulfills the requirement of one mathematics course beyond Algebra II. In this course, we focus on the mathematics skills that are most useful to students beyond high school; the ones that are used in some capacity in day-to-day adult life. Some of the specific skills include assessing the reasonableness of solutions to equations related to real-world situations, rearranging formulas to highlight quantities of interest, choosing and interpreting scale and origin in graphs/data including real-world context, organizing data in meaningful ways, distinguishing between appropriate and inappropriate uses of statistics and conclusions based on data, and calculating simple and compound interest.
