This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to athletic training. Students will learn the components of
exercise science/sports Medicine including exploration of therapeutic careers, medical terminology, anatomy and
physiology, first aid, injury prevention principles, the healing process, rehabilitation techniques, therapeutic modalities,
sports nutrition, sports psychology, and performance enhancement philosophies. The course includes class work and
practical hands-on application in prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of sports injury, taping injuries, and first
aid/CPR. Lectures and labs will provide an overview of anatomy, physiology, exercise physiology, and kinesiology. The
course is recommended for any student interested in the career of sports medicine, athletic trainer, or physical therapist.
