Zoology is a survey course of the animal kingdom with an emphasis
on vertebrate and invertebrate anatomy; physiology; phylogeny; classification;
diversity; behavior; development; and ecology. Concentration
in the invertebrates will center on the field of Entomology (study
of insects) but will include the sponges; single-celled animals; worms;
soft-bodied animals; and the spiny-skinned animals. Concentration in
the vertebrates will center on fish; amphibians; reptiles; birds; and
mammals. Careers in the zoological sciences will be explored. Virtual
and/or lab dissections and field work may be required. Prerequisite:
Biology I
