Course description

Digital media students will learn the fundamentals of fiction and non-fiction filmmaking including designing and creating storyboards; script writing; composition; and camera techniques. Students will learn to use Mini DV cameras for live filming and claymation. All projects will have a fine arts emphasis of storytelling and filmmaking. Digital media students will learn and utilize elements of analysis; interpretation; and evaluation in preparing their work for competitions and film festivals. Students will also learn the artistic elements needed to create a 3-dimensional poster and the figures and sets needed in the claymation process. Students will learn and understand the history and theories of art in diverse cultures; as well as the effect of cultural influences on films over the years.
