CHEMISTRY FOR CHANGING TIMES (NON-LAB)
The course is designed for the non-college bound student and provides him with the knowledge of specific chemistry concepts and processes. This course is divided into five units; each of which is subdivided into laboratory investigations. The investigations in Unit One cover an introduction to laboratory techniques. Unit Two introduces the concept that matter is composed of elements that have certain specific physical and chemical properties. Unit Three deals with the properties of chemical compounds formed when elements combine. Unit Four surveys the fields of organic chemistry and biochemistry. Unit Fiveis vocationally oriented; introducing students to stories covering the fields of paper; textiles; oil; paint; etc. in today's world; the life of each student is greatly affected by chemistry. It is imperative that every student have any understanding of the field of chemistry before he leaves high school.
