Course description

This course provides students an introduction to the theory; components; practice and critical thinking skills utilized in visual communication. The mediums of focus are; videography/filmmaking; graphic arts/design (including print & web optimized projects) and website design/development. During the course; students learn the basic Principles and Elements of design; and stylization development utilizing industry adopted software; Adobe Photoshop; Adobe Illustrator; Adobe Premiere and WordPress. Projects will range from; print materials (logos; posters; flyers) to websites; and video projects (PSA’s; commercials & promotional videos). In addition; the course explores color theory; composition; basic photography; videography; storyboarding; script writing and writing content for websites. Fine art skills developed in this class are critical thinking; active listening; complex problem solving; visualization; drawing/sketching; graphic arts & design; video editing and filmmaking.
